Tigerstripe Identification

Post by Luftwaffe » Mon Jan 30, 2012 8:28 pm

I've had this uniform sitting in my closet for a while after receiving it as a gift from my Grandma, who had said it was worn by a friend of her's husband in Vietnam somewhere from '68 to '69. The thing is, based on research that I have done, it looks like it is made like a modern day BDU rather than examples and photos of real Vietnam era uniforms (Ex all buttons but top collar button are covered, whilst photos that I have observed have the buttons exposed), though it is faded and looks as if it has some age, and the material seems thicker than that of my U.S. surplus woodland BDU. I'm just trying to figure out if any of you could confirm whether it is indeed a Vietnam issue Tigerstripe or otherwise.

Thanks,
Luftwaffe

I rather use a "nightmare" that shoots like a dream over something that looks like a "dream" but shoots like a nightmare.

Don't fear the gun...fear the one that's wielding it!

Hmm. . . interesting, any chance that it is Post-'Nam or is it a reproduction of some sort. I thought I remember reading somewhere that Air-Force personal were issued Tigerstripe after the war.

*EDIT
My post might have been a little unclear, but I'm wondering when this type of patterned uniform would have been issued? (Late 70's 80's ect) It's not Vietnam, but doesn't look like the modern BDU and Tigerstripe pattern. It's not really that important though, I just like learning about the history of things.
