Finally! A true VN M16

Post by C-BASS » Wed May 25, 2011 8:27 pm

I was browsing evike.com and I noticed this on their new products list.
http://www.airsoftpost.com/product_info ... s_id=35273
It has all the features of a true Vietnam-Era M16.
-No Forward Assist
-carrying handle is not removable
-comes with short magazine

The only thing off is the flash hider which is a standard birdcage but can be removed and replaced with a 14mm positive thread flash hider.

TM M16VN, accurate to a T.

Came out 15 years ago. Still available in it's dated form.

G&P M16VN

Has the hokey Orange tip that is not part of the original gun.
I rather use a "nightmare" that shoots like a dream over something that looks like a "dream" but shoots like a nightmare.

Don't fear the gun...fear the one that's wielding it!

I did mention the orange tip (birdcage flash hider not being authentic) and I did not realize that Tokyo Marui had already made an M16VN so I apologize for that.

The TM M16VN was a pretty neat gun, but it had its flaws. The 1st Gen Marui M16 upper and barrel design was prone to extreme barrel wobble, and the whole assembly was plastic, unlike the G&P, which is metal.

That G&P gun is pretty good, but the lower receiver is completely wrong. No excuse really, since G&P makes/made the correct receiver.

The combination of that upper and that lower makes me suspicious.

The ad copy says their gun has an "M16a1" receiver, which is not true. That's an A2/M4 receiver. This gun isn't supposed to be an M16a1 anyway. The M16a1 had a forward assist and different lower.

At least it doesn't have the forward assist and removable carrying handle like those manufactures in china seem to think that they can just put on a triangle handguard and call it Vietnam style...
