I can get "period" items. As far as the holster goes, are you looking for the leather 1911 holster? I found those at one of my suppliers...black in color (maybe some brown too)

I will check and get you prices....

Yeah, I'm not really big on the idea of running around in the woods with sandals on.

Anybody got any old Bias ply tires lying around?

Yeah, I wouldn't either.

Some old looking sneakers will work, too.

Sandals aren't needed. I do know of two alternatives for a VC loadout.

First, PAVN combat shoes. I've seen some photos of VC wearing these shoes supplied by the North. Would also work seeing as how after Tet many VC units were up to 85% PAVN 'volunteers'. These shoes are copied from the French 'patauga' tropical boots of the First Indo-China War.

http://www.goestores.com/catalog.aspx?s ... 9&detail=1

The second option is just to wear US jungle boots. One of the things SOG did was to airdrop thousands of US boots left behind at MASH units by medevacked GIs, into Laotian and Cambodian base camp areas hoping that PAVN troops guarding the Ho Chi Minh trail would wear the boots. This would make the US bootprint common around the areas of the trail, and make it easier for the SOG teams to disguise their tracks. This was a successful program, and it would not be unlikely that the US boots would end up on VC feet. Not to mention the likelyhood of VC fighters simply taking boots off of dead GIs.

The sandals thing was more of a joke, but interesting contribution about the US boots.

I figured it was a joke, but I thought it would help if I posted an alternative.
