STG-44 Magazine Pouches Fakes?

Post by Luftwaffe » Mon Jan 09, 2012 5:19 pm

I recently purchased some STG-44 Magazine Pouches from a seller on Ebay, I only did a little research on these pouches before purchasing them. After recieving them today decided to research on them more for thier level of authenticity, during my research I found some articles talking about some post war Yugoslavian STG-44 pouches that sellers often replicate. I immediatly noticed two things about the pouches, 1. They do look awefully like them, and 2. My AGM STG-44 Magazines had a hard time fitting in the pouches correctly. Should I return these or are they "reenactment" worthy?

That is the URL. for where I bought it from.

For reenactment use...they just have to look the part and not be the "real" part. If it had to be the real part...you can't use Airsoft guns...right?
I rather use a "nightmare" that shoots like a dream over something that looks like a "dream" but shoots like a nightmare.

Don't fear the gun...fear the one that's wielding it!

It says they are reproductions in the description so they aren't real. honestly $40 probably isn't a bad price for repose if they are good quality.

Luft,
They are reenactment worthy and a good price.
At the front sells authentic reproductions for $150.00 - $250.00
Genuine WW2 pouches, if avaialable would be ten times that much or more.

The airsoft mags are close to the actual dimmension but are slightly larger in some respects.
If the canvas is decent quality try slightly dampening the canvas and working the mag in and out and leaving it in with a little extra spacer
Do not soak it and try to avoid any water on the leather. Try one spot first as a test. Do not soak or do the whole pouch

The midwest Ostfront airsoft forum is a good source for info and is always eager to help and looking for new members

Moose,
I tried your idea and it works nicely, still a little snug but that will lessen as I use them more.

Luft,
I am glad it worked. My STG44 is one of my most acurrate and reliable airsoft weapons.
Midwest Ostfront Forum has helped me do a number of mods;

1. softer spring so it does not shoot too hot and can be used full auto
2. convert high cap mags to low cap for more realistic WWll combat
3. exchange orange plastic muzzel cap with blued steel STG44 repro
4. exchange to walnut butstock and paint pistol grip panels
5. install K98 sling

I am currently working on adding a detachable ZF4 scope mount, which for airsoft will be mostly for looks. The original sniper scope was a spring loaded quick detach which held zero.

There are a few members here that also frequent over there, and it is all good.

Moose,
I've only looked on their forums a little bit, I'll have to stop by there again for some more reading, the only things I have done with my STG-44 is get some things repaired by Master TCAA, and my brother had this super cheap sling from a $10 shotgun that was of the same style of mounting as a K98 and it works just fine
