Tentative.

I still really want to do BATC, I've been saying I'm going to do it for 2 years now, I just need to make sure it's going to gel will my schedule.

I'm a very very weak tentative. Like Bunny, I've been wanting to do it for a while, and it's just never worked out. Seeing as I live 1100 miles away that might still be the case, but I'm going to start looking into being able to make it.

Awesome man. You should really enjoy it, but it won't be easy. However, by looking at the roster, this cycle will be mostly dominated by members of airsoft teams (two from Morris, one or two from S.T.A.R.S, one from Chaos, and one from Vendetta), so most of us will already have some experience with working in a tight knit group. I have a few recommendations for people who are going into this for the first time, coming from someone who not only took the course before, but was bitten for making the mistake of not doing these things enough.
1. Know your gear, and how to use it: If you are inexperienced with procedures like mag changes, and etc, they will call you on it, and it will make it a lot harder for you.
2. START EXERCISING!!!!: There is a TON of running, knelling, laying, going prone, standing up, and situations where you are asked to do a few of these in rapid succession. This can be a killer if you are not in good shape.
3. Bring more ammo, batteries, and mags than you think you need: There were a lot of situations last cycle of BATC where scenarios would have to be cut short due to batteries going dead, ammo running out, and mags being lost. I believe shodan held the record for losing mags. About 3 or 4 of his did not come home with him .
4. Make sure your gun is in working order BEFORE you come to BATC: Magnus last cycle was burned by this when his primary crapped out on him, luckily however someone else had a back up he could use. Which brings me to my next piece of advice
5. Bring a back up AEG: This is basically a safety blanket situation. You may not need it, but you will be very glad you brought it if you end up needing it.
6. Watch what your teammates are doing, and be aware of what is going on with them, and what is around you: Any lax of attention in this course can burn you. I learned that the hard way.
This course will not be easy. It will test your ability probably harder than any other game in airsoft has. However, if you stick through it, and try your hardest, you will come through this course a better and stronger airsofter :D

I'm a good behind the scenes leader (setting up meetings/practices, handling money for team projects, getting people out to games). My tactics are, lets just say, not as good . That, and my performance at the last BATC was....Less than stellar :|

it will be good to be back. One thing I noticed from the last BATC was the insane amount of shooting done, Hi caps are recommended for this, bring a lot of them. I plan on having a full Hi cap load out by then.

We have a month to prepare, now is the time to square away all your gear and buy what you need. With plenty of games coming up in the next few weeks, all of your rigs should be squared away. DO NOT make a brand new rig for BATC, use something you are used to. I brought a semi new rig to BATC and was wearing my ALICE gear by the end because I had not ironed out the bugs.

don't forget the tape, bring at least one roll of 90mph tape or electrical tape and find a place to put it on your gear, I needed alot of tape last time.

the last BATC took place at the same time of the year and caught a few of us off guard, it was VERY windy and cold with insane amounts of rain on the first day. Pack wet weather gear and at least a warm fleece, gloves and headgear are a good idea too.

you will be paired up with a battle buddy, you do everything with your battle buddy, you should almost never leave his side. know were your battle buddy is at all times and communicate, if you feel ill, or otherwise not well, tell him. you see some bad guys tell them, your dead, tell them (within the rules of course) you and your battle buddy should be a single unit, and most likely by the end of BATC you will have made a new Friend.

never become complacent during BATC at any moment, erik or any other OC can call the OpFor and crush us in seconds, this will be painfully obvious at a certain part of the day.

Most importantly BE SAFE, last cycle we had a blind man called (it was a dirt biker who was illegally riding on the property) you never know who you might see.

Mark your gear, mags, guns, batteries, and other stuff. I hand out a bunch of my stuff to who ever needs it, be ready to throw mags around!

Heads up guys, we have 9 days untill BATC. By now, all your gear should be squared away, save the little bits you may need over the weekend. I would recomend buying your food soon, well balanced and filling, yet quick and easy are recomended. I would STRONGLY advise you not to live off ramen noodles for the weekend. It's a great time to make a packing list right around now, so as you are not scrambleing last second hopeing that you don't make that gamebreaking mistake of forgeting some gear.

It's time to dust off your guns, test all your guns and batteries, and lube your mags. (you should have long before this) to make shure you are good to go.

I hope you all are as exited as me for the next few days to come!

Good luck, and see you soon.

I have all of my gear squared away except a barrel blocker. Lost mine at Military Games, so I'll be heading to Gander Mountain either tomorrow or Friday. I know you previously said that hicaps would be best, but would, say...7 midcaps and a highcap work? I have 9 mids and 1 high, but currrently can't add any more mags to my loadout and still "know" it. I'm sure I could throw on another mag pouch somewhere, but something tells me that is not the greatest idea.

Last year I ran nine midcaps. I never ran out, but I had to reload after every engagement. That's right, almost 900 rounds per engagement. Bring a lot of ammo. I'll post an encouraging post later.

There is one saying that every recruit should stick to throughout the training. Just remember, it is better to have and not need, than need and not have.

To further Trippy's post, last cycle we did have a lot of people having to quickly reload their magazine's after engagements, and time on the field to do that is often not a luxury. Bring what you think you will need, and then some more. I myself ran 9 midcaps and 1 high cap, and although I was good for most of the routines, I did have to reload a good amount of my mags during the exercise. Trippy doesn't lie in saying that you will run though hundreds of rounds per engagement.

There is my $.02,

I brought 13 hicaps to BATC last year, and burned through them all at least once per trip out, Three times on the long walk. Don't futz around, Bring all the Ammo and Batteries you can possibly keep track of.

Two is one, one is none. Fuck it, bring three.

Okay. 7 mids and 1 high is 100 rounds more than 9 mids, so I should be good on that right? I'm going to keep a bottle of 2000 bbs in a pouch on my belt, and I'll be bringing around 14000 bbs

Would it be worth it to run out and grab an extra mag pouch and throw it on somewhere so that I can have 10 mags on me instead of 8, even though it won't be "battle tested"? The 4 on my chest I can reload from quickly, the 4 on my belt I can reload from a little less quickly. I'll be practicing that. However, I know my setup works in an actual game. If I put on another mag pouch it will pretty much just fit on the BACK of my MOLLE belt if I don't switch anything around, but I don't know if there is a point if I will not be used to reloading from them. And there aren't any games (that I know of) between then and now that I could test it in.

Well, It looks like fate has thrown me a nasty curve. If you have not seen my help post, my primary gun went down at military games with a strange problem that it can now only fire on full auto, and whenever i try to fire semi, it locks up. So far, no one has had any ideas. This leaves me in an interesting situation. My only back up is a P90, which does not meet BATC Specs. I am currently trying to find a gun from a team member that I can use. If I can not find one, I was wondering, is there anyone who has a spare M4 that is going to this class?, or gun with a same sized mag that could fit in M4 mag pouches?

I can help you out if you can not get another gun. I got a JG m4, that I was going to use as a backup but I can also bring my CAG36K with M4 magwell.

anyway, you will almost never use semi, bring it just in case.
