Helmets: Pics, Details, and Discussion

Post by Erik » Sat Jan 01, 2011 10:40 pm

I am working on some impressions that have helmets, and I figured it might be worthy of its own thread.

This is my current "soldier" helmet. It's not based on anything specific, I am thinking this might be used by someone supporting a special ops team.

"Recon" Helmet (if anyone knows the nomenclature for the real thing, LMK)
Rhino NVG arm
Replica NVG mount
Emdom goggle straps
Petzl Headlamp
Replica strobe light
Surefire Helmet light

I am in the process of building a (non functional) Sordin for use with this kit.

I am also working on three other helmets:

SWAT Team (MICH base)
SEAL Team (Black IBH)
Battlestar Galactica Marine (modified snowboarding helmet, based on the original props)
110% PureBred Professional GunFighter
Team PALADIN

I snagged myself a nice Mich 2001 Cutaway for an EOD tech rifleman build.
Only complaint i have is I havent been able to get the straps right, so when i buckle the shinstrap, it sits off to the side of my face.

I can barely tell from the angle of the picture. But it looks like a protec helmet, which would be used mostly for training. It's a BUMP helmet, with no ballistic properties. Some units use them during DA but very few.

Repo Mich2001 w/repo VAS shroud and real Rhino mount. I'll try and get a closer picture eventually, but for now this should do. Also, I wasn't in a game, so don't worry about eye pro.

Replica Mich 2000 with velcro mohawk and two velcro side panels for patches.
I like this helmet a lot, due to the fact that it the 2000 series covers most of the ear section.

Thing I would like to add on are Rhino Arm and a OPS-CORE ACH Occ-Dial.

I will get a pic of my ACH2000 up here soon

Put a nice paint job on it with the help of a fellow wannabe-Ranger buddy of mine. Painted it tan first, put a net over it, finally painted it OD. Nice effect to it, kind of like snake skin. I'll put some more velcro on it later, but I wanted to show off the paint job. This is a MICH 2000.

UPDATE: Got an NVG mount for the front.

Oh well, to be more specific. Rangers are using the Crye Precision helmet covers. While the rest of the Army and your truck drivers are wearing the regular issued one. They also wear them here in the states.

I thought so, too late lol. Well, I might as well just wait until (if, but hopefully) I join the 75th and then see exactly what they have and are changing to for myself. I recently got rid of my helmet cover since I was told by you guys that Rangers didn't wear them... well, I know everything in the military is dynamic, so I shouldn't be surprised. Still, the paint job looks awesome I think.

I figured since you love Rangers and everything I'd give you the heads up.

Currently they are running tan plate carriers with RG pouches. But supposedly they will soon be running multicam pouches instead. Time will tell.

I also wasn't "talking down" to your paint job, just figured you'd like to know the latest info.

I have a significant issue with this statement, but I will bring it to a PM rather than draw a lengthy discussion out here.

Those look like Ops-Core suspension system...

I'll be honest, looking at your other pics, I'm not Sold that it's Crye, but I will state that they're not the standard issue.

Just wondering if could use a helmet, goggles and a wire mesh lower face mask in place of a full facemask. I am asking this because I am not 18 yet a wondering if I could play at the Facility using a setup like this.

1) this is not the place to ask, the place to look would be in the facility area, as im sure that someone has asked before in there.

B) I dont remember if trevor allows the combo, but i don't think that he does, as it's not always a perfect fit and can leave gaps, which doesnt count for the FFP requirement.

III) on a related note, i just ordered myself a replica OPS-CORE FAST-B helmet

This is my Helmet project. Its a replica Mich 2000 in black. It isn't for any certian loadout, just sort of a helmet.
On it, I have:

-Added Black Velcro on sides and top
-American Flag Patch (Regular Orientation)
-Go Pro Mount
-Evike.com Patch
-Home-Made Flash Light attached to velcro
