Flat Hop Up

Post by hornyhotsauce » Mon Feb 27, 2012 11:37 pm

So i ran across a post on airsoftforum yesterday about this magical method of increasing range known as the Flat Hop Up. What's the difference between this and an R-Hop? Which is easier to perform? Which yields best results? I have half a mind to try and do this, but i know ill eff up. Anyone done it?

IsparktheLA has done it and he is doing the mod for a price.
I rather use a "nightmare" that shoots like a dream over something that looks like a "dream" but shoots like a nightmare.

32 pages of R-Hop info....http://forums.airsoftmechanics.com/inde ... pic=4820.0

19 Pages of G-hop or Flat Hop info: http://forums.airsoftmechanics.com/inde ... pic=3603.0

I have the R-hop installed in 3 barrels, but have yet to really test any of them.
Today's problems cannot be solved if we still think the way we thought when we created them.

I have been wondering about this mod as well.
I plan on installing a R-hop in my 249 but don't have the time for it. I will probably get to it before summer, I will be sure test before and after to see if how it benefits.
Whats the scouter say? HIS FPS IS OVER 9000!!!!!!!

Does anyone have any theories as to why it works?
That which does not kill me...
... has made a grave tactical error.

Longer contact on the bb putting a better spin on it.

You can put a better spin on a bb in a "conventional" set-up if you:

One clean the hop-up packing and keep it supple - Do Not Clean the Packing with Silicone Oil.
Two switch to a softer packing - 55 Durometer or less
Three use a "coarse" non-high polished bb
Four use a split nub packing.
Five do not use a highly restricted TBB Barrel.

While the above does not replicated a well built Flat/R Hop.

It does improve the stock performance.
I rather use a "nightmare" that shoots like a dream over something that looks like a "dream" but shoots like a nightmare.

Umm...that is easily reproduced with a conventional hop-up.

Okay, well to save myself the pain of measuring, it's about twice as far stock before it starts to drop. @320fps

Isn't it better to leave your gun stock? Hop up does increase range right? Wouldn't upgrading it make it less accurate? Eh, I'm confused ( I love how auto-correct doesn't correct "Eh", but it corrects "airsoft" ._.)

Spider, you need to slow down and start reading, or remember what you read. You just posted this:

But two days ago you posted this...
