Is a balaclava good for face protection?

Post by ROGAD » Tue Mar 23, 2010 3:06 pm

I have a paint ball mask but I don't like it cause I can't aim! I learned to take the pain if I get shot in the face, but I'm still worried about getting a tooth injury and yet I don't even know if it's possible with a balaclava on.

Wear a mouth guard instead...
I rather use a "nightmare" that shoots like a dream over something that looks like a "dream" but shoots like a nightmare.

Don't fear the gun...fear the one that's wielding it!

A balaclava offers no real protection against BB shots. You will still get welts on skin and you can still break a tooth if hit correctly. If you are under 18 then you have no choice, only full face paintball masks are allowed.

If you are truly concerned about your teeth getting "shot out"....wear full face or as Guges said get a mouth guard.

I wish they would make something like this but hard plastic. The paint ball masks stick out so far! http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.p ... ts_id=4957 Do you guys know of any thing like that?

Thing is...you just can't make a one size fits all hard and close to the face paintball mask. Peoples head vary to much in size and shape. Not to mention the neoprene mask is going to be HOT, HOT, HOT.

Hard plastic...hmm I wonder if they have the OLD STYLE PB masks around some where...

That is as close to a universal hard mask as your going to get.

Another thing you will realize with "Experience". Though these guns look real, handle like they are real...they do not shoot like they are real. Experienced users do not use iron sights, scopes or any type of targeting aid 99% of the time they play. With experience...you will shoot "from the hip" or you will walk your shots in.

Have you thought about getting a mask with a flexible lower, like something out of JT ProFlex or Flex-8 series?
