BUT, will we have a big eyebrowed cognac drinker? If not, I dunno if I'm interested.

Anyone else get a chance to watch it? So far I'm not that impressed compared to Band of Brothers. Although you can't really compare apples to oranges, but still. It was Ok.

I watched it last Sunday. I agree, it does not seem as good as Band of Brothers. I'm going to have to be careful to not compare them too much, though, because I've had several years of enjoying Band of Brothers, and I don't want that to taint my view of The Pacfic, as it's an entirely different series.

I like that they jumped right into it in the first episode, but so far I don't really feel any connection to the characters. I couldn't even name one right now if I had to.

I'm hoping it'll get better and become more engaging as it goes on.

I, for one, am glad to see that they have not included Dale Dye in this series (so far anyway...). It seems like every war movie has to dude in it. I didn't think the first episode of Band of Brothers was really much better than this first episode...takes a bit to work into the good stuff. I'm holding out hope.

Well, he is a former Marine so I wouldn't doubt him being in it at some point.

My roommates and I enjoyed episode one. However, I agree about jumping into it- I don't know the characters yet and also could not name a single one.

Dale Dye is the military advisor for a lot of movies, including Band of Brothers (and The Pacific, in case you didn't notice), and that's why you see him in so many things. I'm guessing the only reason he's not an actor for this series as well is because he's getting past the point where it's unrealistic to think he'd still be active military (he's 65).

I'm aware, just saying I can only take so much Dale Dye.

I would also think he's not in this one since he's plays Colonel Sink who is participating in the European Theater (Band of Brothers)

You don't know a single character yet... John Basilone ring a bell??? He held off 3000 Japanese by himself, medal of honor and navy cross...

And it's way better than band of brothers :P

It's to easy to get past those thing that you need to be 18 to use on the internet. I don't go around them though cuz it's wrong but for this it might be worth it.

Episode 3 pseudo-spoiler alert?

*There isn't any war in episode 3. How come it doesn't matter that bob is awol longer than everyone else? He just stays at his girlfriend's house like the marine corps won't mind. Plus there is like 2.5 sex scenes. Its different than 1 and 2 for sure.

Is there a different director for each episode, like BoB?
