GI Joe movie

OK - I grew up on GI Joe so I'm definitely going to go see this. But in the meantime, I was surprised to see these pictures of Sienna Miller playing Baroness:

Image

Notice anything?

HER FINGER IS ACTUALLY *OFF* THE TRIGGER!

It drives me nuts when actors playing Elite Special Forces Navy SEAL Delta Green Beret Force Recon soldiers don't even know to keep their fingers off the trigger. It's good to know at least ONE actress in Hollywood know how to handle her guns.

Ugh.....I hadn't seen it yet but Brendan Fraser....yes THAT Brendan Fraser....is playing Gung Ho. The Rock is ShipWreck as well....

I am a huge fan of GI Joe....and hope the movie will usher in a ton of new gear....but I am not expecting much from this movie.

Where's SGT Slaughter? That's what I want to know!

in all reality, this really looks like the new modern GI Joes as opposed to the ones I grew up playing with. (I had the blackbird!)

I liked him in 28 Days Later (Destro's actor) but other than that this movie looks like it is doomed to fail.

they better use the intro song from the original animated movie. thats the best song out of them all, seasons 1& 2 intros are ok, but its the same song for both.

Have faith children. Transformers was good and this movie can be also. Yes there is some suspect actors but people thought the same thing about Jamie Fox before he took his acting more serious. Lets wait for it to come out before we damn it

I'm pretty pissed that Destro's face isn't half metal. He's not even bald!

I'm also torn on the black leather C&C Nod-style outfits for the GI Joes. They really strike me as more of a Cobra thing. I'm really looking forward to seeing pics of Cobra Commander. I don't think they'll use the veil like in the cartoon, because that would be extremely hard to pull off without looking dorky. They might do the face plate, but what I'd really like to see is the red, transparent face plate they used for a short time. That action figure was my favorite out of all of 'em.

Also, Duke is supposed to be bleached blond. That was his "thing."

On another note, I am tempted to try and put together an airsoft team based around the 80s cartoon....

Stephen Sommers. The asshat who made "The Mummy" & it's equally shitty sequel.
Which explains Brendan Fraser & Arnold Vosloo both being in it.

This movie, much like transformers, is going to be SHIT. Sure there will be a couple of cool scenes but overall it's going to be a piece of crap. The story will be totally screwed up and the acting will be terrible. And it will probably make oodles of money and they'll make an even shittier sequel.

I think this movie will be like Rambo 4. Yeah, there's probibly a plot, but you're really just watching the movie to sit back and giggle. Except when rambo did it, you giggled because there was a lot of people dying at once. With this movie, you watch it because it's gonna be funny as shit.

Head to 3:56 for the best 'version' of GI Joe ever. Basically showing everything they couldn't do on the cartoon, like strafing the cobra guys who parachute out of the jets.

Resurrect, thread!

I saw it today, and I honestly enjoyed it. It was an unapologetic action movie based on a cartoon that was made to sell toys. If you approach it expecting Black Hawk Down, it will suck. Over the top action sequences, ridiculous villains and henchmen, and a plot that is just involved enough to hold it together make it a perfectly acceptable late summer movie.

If you really need a reason to see the movie, go for three words: Scarlet's boob armor.

SPOILER ALERT **** SPOILER ALERT **** SPOILER ALERT

Okay, here is my list of grievances:

1. I am ok with changing the Baroness' story to it being Duke that killed her brother (in canon, it was Snake-Eyes, at least she thought that). But I'm strongly opposed to her love for Duke making her change sides. And why is she so unwilling to hurt him, when she freely kills anyone else in her path?

2. The Destro/Cobra Commander arc was actually okay, except I think that CC's Crystal Vader helmet was super lame. Should have stuck with the hood.

3. Snake Eyes was very cool, and portrayed well, but his costume was wrong. His head looked like a Nerf ball.

4. Ice does not sink. My fifth grader knows this, why don't the writers?

5. In general, some of the worst movie physics I've ever seen.

6. Why would Destro build nanomites that needed to be "weaponized" by someone else. Do the writers even know what "weaponizing" means? Aren't the nanomites already weapons?

7. I don't care if Duke is in the SF or not, when in a class A uniform he'd be required to shave off his chin pubes. And, was he demoted since the flashback? He is wearing Major rank, but Hawk and others later refer to him as "Captain." Oh yeah - the actor playing Duke is the biggest tool I've ever seen. He so much of a tool he should work at Home Depot. He's a bigger tool than Scott Stapp.

8. Scarlet's crossbow was cool, but she should have been hotter. She's also supposed to be in love with Snake Eyes. This is hinted at, but Ripcord wouldn't have had a chance.

9. What's all this "We don't kill women" bullshit? The women are sure killing a lot of Joes - and Cobras. I don't get it - are these women combatants, or not? What a bunch of ultramaroons.

10. The performance of the weapons/armor was very inconsistent.

11. Subs can't maneuver like that underwater. Nothing can maneuver like that under water. Again, bad movie physics.

12. A lot of the CGI looked like a donkey's ass.

13. The Joe planes, when entering the Pit, kept rotating unnecessarily (I assume so we could see it from all angles). In real life, those pilots would be too dizzy to land.

14. Since when did the US Army use the Hummer H3? How come they could get Rhinos but not real Humvees? Laaaame.

There are somethings I liked:

1. The Cobra sonic/kinetic weapons. Very cool, much cooler than lasers.

2. The opening battle with the Rhinos and the multicam etc. was very cool. Too bad they got their asses handed to them.

3. I really liked the Vipers, except they were clearly an Army of Two ripoff.

4. I also liked the plane, except it was a Firefox ripoff (granted, the original GI Joe toy was probably a Firefox ripoff).

5. I actually thought I would hate the acceleration suits, but all in all that entire sequence was pretty cool. I especially liked it when the Baroness blasted the roof. Except for the fact she did that instead of killing Duke-bag. And the horrible physics displayed during the car chase. And the shitty CGI. On second thought, that pretty much sucked all around.

6. Sienna Miller is hot, OMGWTFBBQ11111. Stupidly hot. Like, you look at her and it's like staring into the sun.

7. I was really happy to see Snake Eyes using a gun. He's not a ninja, he's a commando.

I would only see this movie again if there was a way I could get paid to do it.

I went to see the movie the other day, and I will have to admit that I liked it. While it may have not been spot on with the cartoon, It was still good.

Now what I am going to say will offend some of you die hard fans, and I apologize....on second thought no I don't. I think that we have to keep in mind that this movie needed to attract the younger crowds that are not old enough to even remember the original show. That said, Duke played by Channing whatever is popular amongst these younger kids which is the reason he got the part. I think that he did a good job in the roll, even if the writers didn't put the story up to expectations.

As far as the subs, I to agree that there were a little...wrong. But then again, this is Hollywood and when do they ever get anything right. They are more worried about selling the movie, not showing the actual capabilities of the subs...which I have to add would have made for a very very lame scene.

I think this movie was worth the time, and I can guarantee there will be another.

The physics were never intended to be realistic, nor the CGI. Its basically a cartoon brought to life. The ice thing was brought up while me and Trippy saw it. The only way I can attempt too explain that bullshit is that the tubes from the base were in those chunks, and they were made exclusively from old melted Dboy airsoft guns, which have the heaviest pot metal known to man in them.

Ok. Yea, the ice thing was bullshit, I admit it. I didn't let it detract from my enjoyment. The editing in the film was excellent. The rollover from jet to sub was real slick. Very much like the hyper fantastic editing in Speed Racer.

I don't wanna get into the whole debate about good vs bad movies though.

All I will say is this: a movie doesn't have to be good to be entertaining, and I found this movie very entertaining.

EDIT: THIS COVERS WHAT I'M SAYING (Albeit its for a different franchise)->Image

EDIT 2: OR MAYBE ITS DRY ICE??!!??!?
