Updated guide with CA's quality in guns increasing and with the repuation the ICS M4 is getting of being a bit of a lemon.

ALL AK47s use a V3 gearbox, so that's nothing special.

I think he ment the newest version. Like the v3 m4. Get what i am saying? The v3 is sopposed to have metal bushings and spring guide and a reienforced shell if i have read correctly.

That would be GEN (as in Generation) 3.
It is impossible for an M16 series gun to have a V3 gearbox.
I realize a LOT of retailers are using "V_" instead of "Gen._" which is causing all kinds of confusion to people new to the airsoft market. The only reason for them do to do this is either to deliberately mislead their customers or because they are ignorant as to the difference. I for one would not buy a product from someone who is deliberately lying to me about said product, OR has insufficient knowledge of it.

People who know the difference need to inform those who do not so this misinformation can be stopped (or at least reduced).

Thing is if they do use a "GEN" designation with all the changes they made to "Chinese/Taiwanese" AEG's they would be on GEN 40 for some models.

And then your going to have new people asking all the time..."do you have the newer GEN 40 M4A10's???" Retailer looks at the wall of GEN 38's sitting on the back wall "...why yes I do".

See why they don't do that...I really dislike online retailers that make these false sense of "newness" and the latest and the greatest...when its not that great or new.
I rather use a "nightmare" that shoots like a dream over something that looks like a "dream" but shoots like a nightmare.

Don't fear the gun...fear the one that's wielding it!

I wouldnt buy it from shorty or airsplat they arent good places to buy guns. I would say buy from airsoft megastore. they dont have echo1 buy they have jg and they are pretty much the same and you will get a much better deal on the gun if you buy it from them. I bought from them for my first aeg.

in comparison of prices and what you get for echo1 and jg though, echo1 is better even though they just rebrand jg. They also replace some parts and slap on a warranty.

Orange tips are required for importation. In the State of Minnesota it is not required. To our knowledge no municipality or county in Minnesota require it. Laws vary in other states.

I'm looking at getting a lancer tactical FAL ( http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.p ... s_id=10125 ). Would it be worth it? Or should I save more money for a JG or king arms?

You should come to the Airsoft Convention so you can grab, feel and fondle all the different variations of AEG's, then buy one from one of the great vendors that will be there!

AFAIK, JG doesn't make an FAL. The only other options are King Arms, or Classic Army.
The "lancer" is a Chinese clone of the Classic Army, and is therefore compatible with CA parts, mags, etc. KA and CA are NOT cross compatible. So you should look at the availability & price of magazines and accessories before you commit to one.

On the magazine front..."Lancer" does not make mid-caps so if you want mids you'll have to buy CA. I know (1st hand) that CA mids are hard to get and rather expensive.

KA does both hi-cap & mid-cap, and are usually easier to find, but not significantly cheaper than CA's.

I am looking to make a trade off CL and I have been offered these two options, which would you choose?

cyma m14 completely stock, lightly used

cyma cm028 (ak47) with scope rail, nc star red dot (trying to find out which one he has specifically), and a silencer (also trying to figure out which one), down side is its "painted black" which could be bad, I dunno yet, trying to get a pic.

Trying to get more info from the guy with the ak, but he has yet to get back to me. If I get the ak I will most likely keep it pretty much stock and do the basic shimming and hop up tuning type of things. If I get the m14 I will be tempted to do a DMR build. I know this is mostly personal preference, but I am fine with owning either. Mostly just curious if people have recommendations and or things to watch out for with either model. For reference here are links to the two guns.

If you're looking for a good GBB pistol, look at the "railgun" colt 1911s. I have the black one myself, haven't been sad yet
