Schmeisser MP40

Post by master7000 » Mon Dec 07, 2009 6:59 pm

Does anyone have or have had this gun before? Because I might buy it but first I wanna know if it's any good. So is it? Cause if it's not I'm don't want to waste my money on it.

The gun is decent. That said, the power/safety switch is a POS and should be replaced. You can get a good switch from Radio Shack for about $5

My only other complaint is that it is select fire, but the real steel is full-auto only.

Well that's what I would most likely keep it on(full-auto). I'm gonna buy it used from my friend. He said he only fired 2 clips through it because he would rather have a steel pump pellet gun. It comes with an extra clip and it's only $125

$125 is way too much to pay for a used Mp40. You can get new ones for that price, if you shop around.

Well technically it isn't really used. It's only been twice and it comes with an extra clip which costs $20.

If it has been taken out of the box and fired, then TECHNICALLY, it IS used.

You can listen to our Experience or you can figure out for yourself what we already know and blow your money on bad over priced sites and people who sell USED items for to much...its up to you really...

I am listening to you. But the only thing is by the time I pay for let's say a $125 gun and there's another $20 shipping and it doesn't come with an extra clip the other deal might be better.

Ha I asked the guy to lower it like $25 and said what I think was mean't to be very mean because it had a bunch of these >:( and said he wouldn't lower it and was gonna sell it to the other guy.
Should I get the CYMA AK47 or the Matrix full metal MP40. the MP40 is $20 more and the clips $2 more and they both go 350 FPS but the MP40 come with a speed loader while the AK47 doesn't. While I don't know the MPs shipping the AKs is $12 for ground.

Which should I got with?

Between the two...I'd recommend the AK and here's why.

Magazines (not "clip"): The MP40 uses proprietary magazines that you can only get in OEM standard and KA mids. The AK uses standards, Mids, or hi-caps that are all readily available and FAR more common.

Batteries: The MP40's battery is rather time consuming to change. The AK is MUCH faster/easier. The MP40 is limited to an 8.4v small battery, while the AK can take 8.4 large (albeit a large with a small plug  ). The large battery in the AK means longer run time between charging (more shooting from each charge of the battery). Since the AK has a large battery with small plug you can either get small batteries for extras, or you can switch the plug (or get an adapter) to a large plug.

Gearbox: The MP40 uses a proprietary gearbox shell with standard internals. The AK uses a V3 gearbox, so all the parts are readily available & it's easier to work on than the MP40.

There you have it. The choice is yours.

I just thought I would through in my 2 cents. I have an AGM MP40 and so far it has worked fine for me. The cool thing (for me at least and maybe other people who like WW2 stuff) is that, even though the mags are not that common, they can be interchanged to mags for the British Sten. Also the gearbox on the AGM MP40 is a V3 gearbox, just built a little differently. I like it a lot, and it is almost full metal. The gearbox does need a little work, as I suggest replacing the shims and gears. I also suggest replacing the hop up and putting in a tight bore. Its all up to you on what gun you get.

I would look at what is for sale here on the boards used. You can pick up a used TM for the price of some of the AGM and A&K 's

If your holding out for a WW2 gun AGM is also releasing a Ppsh-41, I believe it's coming out sometime in the first quarter of 2010. I'm pretty sure that will have a mag that isn't compatible with anything else, but still sweet. :D

I am sorry to say that AGM has closed down. All projects that they had been working on were stopped due to this. There is a sticky on it some where throughout the forums but I cant seem to find it.

You mean here. At any rate, the consensus seems to be the closing of AGM was an incorrect assumption, and that it's business as usual.

Thats good news in some aspects, but the temptation to buy an already made PPSh or a MG42 may prevent me from making my custom ones. Oh well, depends on the cost.
