AIRSOFT MISSIONS 2009 - OPFOR INTRODUCTION & SIGN UP

Due to community requests the MAA will be organizing a sequel to our highly successful 2004 event, Airsoft Missions Minnesota.

Scheduled for September 26th at the MS40 site, Airsoft Missions 2009 will pit teams versus scripted OPFOR for a series of fast paced challenging missions.

This forum will be for general information, rules, questions, and sign up.

AIRSOFT MISSIONS 2009 - OPFOR INTRODUCTION & SIGN UP

Post by THE ARCHANGEL » Mon Apr 13, 2009 2:57 pm

Not on a Team? Can’t find one to join? Join OPFOR….

OPFOR, or Opposing Force, will require players to help fill our ranks for the event. OPFOR players ARE NOT playing. They are following a loose script of allowed actions. They are not out to “win”, they are there to assure a standard response for each team. If you run left and hide behind a tree, shoot twice, then walk out into the open and get shot versus Team 1….you will do that same series of steps the next time you go up against a team. OPFOR’s primary duty is to make sure every Team gets a fair chance to win the Mission.

If you are interested in participating in the game but do not have a Team, let us know and we’ll put you in the OPFOR Pool. First….take a look at the requirements.

OPFOR REQUIREMENTS:

• Black BDU’s and Hats are required. Style of hat is discretionary. OPFOR Players cannot wear ANY other color than Black. No OD, No camo, etc….anywhere. Bad guys wear black….nuff said.

• Gear and gun selections are at the discretion of the OPFOR Member. Any color gear is allowed. OPFOR players are allowed to use any capacity magazines they wish. Due to no magazine restrictions OPFOR are not expected to have any gear at all. There will be a set safe/staging area for OPFOR to stow gear.

• OPFOR do not pay a fee for the event. They are considered volunteers and are expected to act in accordance with organizer rules and policies.

• OPFOR Members will be provided with a limited amount of BB’s per mission. Unused rounds are expected to be returned.

More details will be released once OPFOR Members have been assigned.

NOT EVERYONE WHO SIGNS UP TO PLAY OPFOR WILL BE ACCEPTED. AS THERE NEEDS TO BE A HIGH LEVEL OF DEDICATION TO THE ROLL OPFOR WILL BE PLAYING IN THIS GAME, WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REFUSE SERVICE AS WE SEE FIT. IF YOU HAVE NOT PLAYED AT LEAST 2 MAA ORGANIZED EVENTS OR HAVE SIMILAR EXPERIENCE/REFERENCES YOU WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.

We’ll also need Role Players. Drug Lords, hostages, etc. We will need non-shooting actors to play parts in this event as well. Not many, but there are openings. No good gun yet? Still want to participate? Let us know and we’ll help you become a thespian.

If you are interested in an OPFOR role, post here. We will contact you individually as the time gets closer.

If you are a “MAYBE”….do not post. Post when you are sure want to participate. Due to the nature of this game, we need people to dedicate their time. We can’t plan an event of this size based on maybes.

I'm in interested in a position on the Opfor. I'm also a theatre major so if I'm not qualified for Opfor I'd love to be considered for an acting role. I've been playing airsoft for 4 years abd I've participated in events such as CN:T IV, Battle for Breedland I, an MAA open session (May of '07) and numerous ND ops and skirmishes (list available upon request). Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to assisting in any way I can.

Looks like Morris is going to go OpFor, unless another team is needed to keep the Op from getting canceled.

Theatre majors make great airsoft role-players! Just ask Failsafe about The Heist at the Warehouse :P

I would like to be considered for the OPFOR group as well.

I have the following qualifications.

No team to play on: Check
Multiple MAA organized events: Check
In process of watching all the Combat Missions on YouTube: Check
Working guns both AK and AR: Check
Thespian: Dammit Gabe I am an immunologist not a Thespian but I can do the exaggerated deaths flops like they do i the show.
Age and maturity to do this right: 33 checks, well by then 34 :D
Already have the day on the calender and an OK from the wife: Check and double Check

Just let me know either way so if I don't get a spot I can plan other activities for the day

Thanks
Jim

I am interested in an OPFOR position, or perhaps play as a hostage. If you have any "downed crewman / pilot" scenarios I have a fully modern helicopter / crewman set up in ACU, complete with vest and HGU-56P helmet with shield for added realism. :)

Volunteering to be an OpFor or "roleplayer", whichever is needed.

Also, willing and able to be a "roadie" for the organizers if they need someone to help setup props and things.

I would like to be considered for a OPFOR position as well. Sounds like a great time and I believe I meet all the necessary requirements to play the role.
The only complication I could see is that I would likely have either a M500 shotgun or a LMG available as my weapon, which may not fit into the scenario if you want to keep things even with standard AEG vs standard AEG play.
In the event my weaponry was deemed unsuitable for an OPFOR role I would be happy to fill the part of a Role Player. I've never gotten to be a drug lord or a hostage for a day and it sounds like a pretty good time to me :)

A heart felt thank you to all the players who volunteered to play OPFOR for this event. I hope you all can volunteer the next time we try to run the event as it's players like you that make events like this possible.
