Battery Upgrade Question

Post by TrustJesus » Tue Feb 17, 2015 2:56 pm

I just recently purchased an HK 416 gun for my son. It is not the metal gear box, rather polymer. It came with an 8.4V battery. I was wondering if it is safe to use a 9.6V battery in this gun, or do I need to worry about it stripping the gears? Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Polymer gear box models are really dead end platforms for upgrades.

A battery upgrade is not recommended for extended use. Sure run one mag and have a giggle at the "higher" ROF.

But, you will prematurely strip the piston, chip a tooth or crack your mechbox (especially if left out side in the cold before use). And when that breaks parts will be very hard to find and potentially as much as the cost of the MPEG itself.
I rather use a "nightmare" that shoots like a dream over something that looks like a "dream" but shoots like a nightmare.

Don't fear the gun...fear the one that's wielding it!
